Identifying the Aiming Eye

Everyone has a dominant eye, which is stronger than the other one. This is the eye that should be used for aiming your air rifle. If you are right-handed and your dominant eye is the left one, try shooting left-handed. If this proves too uncomfortable, you will have to aim with your weaker eye.

How do you identify the dominant or master eye? The following process will help you:

1. Look at a small object (like a light-switch) at least 5m away.
2. Stretch both arms out in front of you and overlap your fingers and thumbs to form a small pyramid-shaped opening.
3. Keeping both eyes open, look at the object through the opening and bring your hands slowly toward your face.
4. Your hands will automatically gravitate to the stronger eye until you are looking at the object through the opening with either the left or right eye. This is your ideal aiming eye.
